My name is Barbara (Bobbie) Wiggins and I am a graduate of Animal Behavior College where I earned my certification as an ABC Certified Dog Trainer and an ABC Certified Shelter Dog Trainer. Animal Behavior College (ABC) is approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education and is an internationally recognized school. My year-long commitment to this program has provided me with a formal education in canine obedience training and understanding behavior and its motives. My certification, education, and experience provide me the skills required to effectively and humanely train your dog while keeping alive the spark that makes your dog so special to you.
The 10+ years I spent working in the shelter environment have provided me the opportunity to work with many different breeds and personalities of dogs. I have successfully rehabilitated dogs with a variety of behavior problems always using the most up to date humane techniques available to me. This has taught me how to adjust the way I train to fit each dog’s needs so they can learn more efficiently. The knowledge and experience I gained here has prepared me to deal with most all behavior management problems you may experience in your home because my job was teaching shelter dogs to succeed in a home.
I love working with special needs dogs and hold a special place in my heart for deaf dogs. My journey into deaf dog training started with adopting a deaf Dogo Argentino puppy. Riley was super smart and eager to learn, I trained him using ASL and a simple flash of my hand as a marker. I take pride in using force-free training with deaf dogs. Over the past 3 years, I have trained dozens of deaf dogs to live successfully with their owners.
Working with such a wide variety of dogs has given me a special insight into using positive reinforcement combined with specific body language movements to help build and reinforce trust in the dogs. By teaching my clients these training methods, I can show each client how to build a trustworthy bond with their dog.
