    Remmi's List Highlight: Frances Frances is a sere Remmi's List Highlight: Frances Frances is a serene and contemplative #feline seeking a calm and understanding home. At 3 years old, Frances is the epitome of a quiet companion, finding solace in observing the world around her. Although she’s not one for squishies, she loves to be close to her human, sharing gentle #company. Frances has triumphed over a challenging battle with Stomatitis, a condition that led to the removal of most of her teeth through extensive oral surgery. Now, pain-free and content, she embraces a wet food-only diet, happily savoring her meals. This resilient cat is ready to get some time out of the shelter with someone who appreciates her tranquil presence and understands her unique needs. #RemmisList is a list of animals in our care who are in the biggest need of short-term foster homes. Studies show that giving a dog or cat a #shelterbreak for even a night or two significantly #reducesstress which helps to make them more adoptable in the long run. Remmi’s list is made up of our #dogsandcats here at the Angels of Assisi #shelter who most need some time out of the #kennels. These animals are either #senior, #longtermresidents, in need of medical care, in dire need of a #mentalhealthbreak from the shelter, or all of the above. Our staff will even provide training on medication administration for our #specialneeds animals. While the time in our shelter is temporary for all of its residents, Remmi’s list aims to highlight those who could use a #vacation the most. Firstly, thank you to the @berglund.center for #donating the space, time, and advertising for the event. A thanks goes out to the Roanoke @lamaradvertisingcompany for giving us a spot on their Brambleton/221 billboard. We also want to thank @bennymarconis in Downtown Roanoke for giving us 3 giant pizzas to feed staff and #volunteers during Adoptathon day, @railyarddawgs for the raffle, and @rrfc_women for helping with cleanup after the event.     Great news! Journey has found her #foreverhome. Sh Great news! Journey has found her #foreverhome. She'll have a big fenced-in yard, and she'll be the center of attention for her new mom who lost her previous two dogs a few years ago. Journey's adopter found it in her heart to bring Journey into her life today, and we're excited to know they'll be making new memories and finding the way through their own healing #journey's together. #Congratulations Journey and mom!     #HAPPYBEGINNING! We have our third Faces of Angels #HAPPYBEGINNING! We have our third Faces of Angels Success Story! The star of our third @7atfour show on @wdbj7 got #adopted last week! Acorn Squash, our 5 year old angry bowl of cereal from the Halloween Parade has found his #foreverhome. After appearing on Faces of Angels, we're happy to say Acorn Squash will have a fenced-in yard to play in, a new cat sibling, and a mom who is smitten with him. Congratulations to Acorn Squash and his #newfamily!
    STILL SEARCHING! Croissant, our little #miraclebab STILL SEARCHING! Croissant, our little #miraclebaby is still going strong, and mamma Clover has nicely settled into #motherhood. She is taking care of everything Croissant needs. We do still desperately need a #foster for these two, though. Those who are usually able to foster for us are currently out of town due to the #holidays. The staff member who has been watching over them cannot continue to do so tonight as they do not have a separate space away from their other #pets. Clover and #baby need a home with either no other #animals or where the other animals can be separated completely. Although Clover is very sweet and cuddly, if kids are in the home, they cannot interact with Clover when she is anywhere near Croissant because she is very protective, as any #newmother should be. Any foster, would not need to do very much at all to take care of this pair outside of feeding and checking on Clover.     JOURNEY UPDATE! Back in October, we met Journey, JOURNEY UPDATE! Back in October, we met Journey, a 3 year old #emaciated girl who lived in a cage for 6 months with very little to eat. Well, due to lots of love and care from our staff and her caring #foster, Journey has grown from 16lbs to 25lbs! After living in a home with several dog siblings, Journey loves to play. She has also become an absolute #lapdog. Journey’s condition has improved so much, she was recently deemed healthy enough to be spayed and be listed for #adoption! On Sunday, December 10th, #shelters from all over the Roanoke Valley and neighboring #communities will bring their #adoptableanimals to the @berglund.center to form a City of Angels. We’ll all be coming together under one roof with the singular goal of finding homes for as many #animals as possible between 11am to 4pm. This MEGA Adoptathon will include adoptable #dogs, #cats, #rabbits, #guineapigs, #rats, and more from Angels of Assisi, Roanoke Valley SPCA @rvspca, Alleghany Humane Society @alleganyshelter, Franklin County Humane Society @franklincohumanesociety, Pittsylvania Pet Center @pittsylvaniapetcenter, Martinsville-Henry SPCA, Friends of Bedford County Animal Shelter, Regional Center for Animal Care and Protection @rcacp, and the Virginia German Shepherd Rescue @vagermanshepherdrescue.     PUPPY UPDATE We were able to send Clover and Crois PUPPY UPDATE We were able to send Clover and Croissant home with one of our staff, but we still urgently need a foster for them. Croissant can be fed with help from Clover or via bottle. We’ve also found Clover to be quite a cuddle bug. As Croissant grows, Clover will be able to take care of the heavy lifting. Eventually, the #foster parent would need to give the puppy baths and start weaning her to #puppy food.     URGENT! Plus an UPDATE! Croissant is doing very we URGENT! Plus an UPDATE! Croissant is doing very well so far! Her mom, Clover is able to feed her, and Croissant is happy to be fed. She want’s to be on the move, and we’ve been enjoying the squeaks of a newborn puppy all day. But we need your help. We need a foster for mom and pup TODAY! All of our usual fosters are either at capacity or out of town. So if you’ve ever thought of becoming a foster, today would be a great time to start!     This morning a dog who had just come out of stray This morning a dog who had just come out of stray hold came into our shelter with a surprise. She was pregnant. The #puppies had faint heartbeats, so our clinic staff performed an emergency C-section, and got to work trying to revive the 7 puppies. After some intense group effort, sadly 6 babies could not be saved. But one began to breathe, and eventually whimpered. We’ve named her Croissant, and she is currently wrapped up in blankets on a heating pad with an oxygen mask. We’re not sure if she will pull through yet, but if she does she may have several medical problems to overcome from going without breathing for too long. We will keep you updated on her progress. She's a master at communicating with love, and her silence only enhances her charm. Ms. RoRo loves all people - adults, teens, AND children! As long as she can be the center of attention! This sweet girl is looking for a place where she can be the only pet of the house. She yearns to sunbathe in a big back yard and play fetch (AKA keep the ball away from the humans...). Roro faces severe allergies, but she's a true fighter.
