Hospice- Facing Life’s Challenges in Peace
Angels of Assisi & Good Samaritan Hospice have partnered to offer comfort and support in times of great need. Animals of human hospice patients are eligible for free wellness check-ups which include any needed vaccinations, nail trimming, ear cleaning and more. By assuring hospice patients and their families their beloved pets are being cared for, Angels of Assisi & their Good Samaritan partners hope to lift a little care off of those humans who are facing their own challenges.
Domestic Violence and Pets Caught in the Middle
Victims of domestic violence now have a safe place to leave their animals. When confronted with domestic violence, Angels of Assisi is there to help. People caught in such desperate situations often need temporary help with their pets for just a few weeks while they find new accommodations. Some are even forced to give up their pets. With our Angels of Assisi “Guaranteed Adoption Program” former owners can be assured their beloved pets will be taken care of and will eventually be adopted into a new and loving home.
Homelessness
Angels of Assisi has partnered with the Roanoke City Police Department and The Least of These to help the homeless population of Roanoke and their pets. The Least of These works with area churches to help secure resources for the homeless while the Roanoke Police help provide resources for substance abuse, mental illness, or other issues that are identified. Angels of Assisi provides spay/neuter, veterinary services and provides food and other supplies to help the pets of the homeless.
