Position Statements on Hybrids as Pets
The purposeful breeding of domesticated dogs and cats with their wild counterparts, such as wolves, coyotes and bobcats, produces offspring who may appear tame and capable of living safely with humans and with domesticated animals. Unfortunately, these animals are not truly tame and can be unpredictable and dangerous, raising serious public safety as well as humane concerns. It can be difficult, if not impossible, to definitively determine if an animal is a hybrid based solely on visual examination.
Angels of Assisi Position
Angels of Assisi opposes the breeding and possession of hybrid dogs and cats as family pets, both for the safety of the public and for the humane treatment of wild animals who are meant to live in their natural habitats.
