Queenie is up bright and early for her live TV deb Queenie is up bright and early for her live TV debut with @wslstv10 ! ❤️ We are at the Berglund Center getting ready for the Greater Roanoke Home and Garden Show. Queenie will be here this afternoon, hoping to find a loving home to call her own.
Sweet Gyzelle was rushed to our community pet clin Sweet Gyzelle was rushed to our community pet clinic this morning for emergency surgery. Her family called because she had been in labor for a couple of days and was not doing well. Thankfully, our medical team was able to get her into surgery immediately upon arrival to hopefully prevent any further complications. Our surgeon performed an emergency c-section and spay surgery. Gyzelle had two kittens that our team worked tirelessly to save. Gyzelle is now awake from surgery and with her two new babies. They are now recovering in the incubator to stay warm and safe. Stay tuned for updates on this sweet new mom and her precious babies! ❤️
Meet Groot! Groot has been in foster with our frie Meet Groot! Groot has been in foster with our friends at Catawba Kennel. Groot is a 2-year-old Great Pyrenees mix, and, like most guardian dogs, he's a bit protective over his home. Once this boy gets to know you, and it doesn't take long, he's full of love. Yesterday, our wonderful certified dog trainer, Jessica Vellella, CPDT-KA, went to visit this sweet boy and see how we can work with Groot to help him find a loving family. She discovered that Groot is super smart, food motivated, and a total sweetheart. Within minutes, this boy warmed up to our adoption team, and it was heartwarming to see his goofy personality come to light. Groot is looking for an adult-only home with a fenced-in yard where he can lounge. Ideally, Groot would do well in a low-trafficked home or with an understanding family that will make Groot feel safe and secure when visitors come over. Groot is just a 90lbs goofy boy that is full of love and wants a family to give him a chance. Are you interested in adopting Groot or finding out more information? If so, please email our adoption team at adoptions@angelsofassisi.org.
Lily came to us earlier today from our friends at Lily came to us earlier today from our friends at the Regional Center for Animal Care & Protection. She was hit by a car a couple of weeks ago, which resulted in a broken pelvis. This girl is only ten months old and full of love; it just breaks our hearts that she is in so much pain. We have Lily on a pain management regimen and strict cage rest while she heals. Our medical team will continue to repeat radiographs and monitor her throughout the healing process to ensure she is recovering well. Please consider making a contribution to help with sweet Lily’s medical care and rehabilitation. In the meantime, Lily is looking for a loving foster family to care for her while she heals. If you are interested in fostering this loving pup, please contact our adoption team at adoptions@angelsofassisi.org. ❤️
Sweet Queenie was found on the side of the road in Sweet Queenie was found on the side of the road in West Virginia by a good samaritan and brought to safety. She was very underweight and not in good shape. Queenie is a tripawd, meaning she only has three legs. Our veterinary team performed a complete medical exam, bloodwork, and radiographs on this sweet girl. We found that she has a sharp bone fragment on the femur of the amputated leg and a fractured pelvis that never properly healed. Because of this, Queenie has arthritis, and we can only imagine that she must be in some pain, but you would never know it from her positive spirits. We have started Queenie on a pain management regime to help make her more comfortable. However, a kennel is no place for this loving girl. Queenie needs a nice comfy bed to cuddle in and a loving family to call her own. Are you interested in adopting or fostering this sweet girl? If so, email our adoption coordinators at adoptions@angelsofassisi.org to schedule a meet and greet.
Wesley and Leslie are the perfect senior brother a Wesley and Leslie are the perfect senior brother and sister duo! These two were adopted from us 8 years ago as puppies and had been with the same family ever since. Unfortunately, their family’s living situation changed, and Wesley and Leslie are looking for a new loving home to spend the rest of their days. These two are basically twins. They are easygoing, potty trained, and just looking for a comfy couch. Both Wesley and Leslie came in with Lyme disease, which has since been treated, and they were having difficulty losing weight, causing them some problems getting around. Our medical team ran some labwork and determined that they both have hypothyroidism. They are now on thyroid medication, at a healthier weight, and have much more energy! Are you interested in adopting Wesley and Leslie or finding out more information? Please email our Adoption Coordinators at adoptions@angelsofassisi.org or visit our adoption center between 12 pm to 6 pm.
This past summer was undoubtedly the summer of the This past summer was undoubtedly the summer of the beagles. Over 4000 beagles were rescued from the Envigo breeding facility, where they were to be sold for laboratory testing. These beagles had never touched grass or been outside a concrete kennel before being rescued. Angels of Assisi took in over 100 beagles and found them loving homes. We are so grateful that these sweet dogs will never have to endure the sad fate of those before them. Yesterday, the local Envigo beagles had a Beagle Bash Reunion at Highland Park. Over 30 beagles and their loving families showed up for the reunion. It was heartwarming to see them thriving with their families and enjoying life. They are full of love and so carefree. ❤️
Sick puppies are two words no one wants to hear to Sick puppies are two words no one wants to hear together. This adorable puppy, Blu, was very sick and lethargic when he arrived at our community pet clinic last week. We ran a test and determined this sweetheart and his siblings had parvovirus. Parvo is a terrible virus that, unfortunately, can have very heartbreaking consequences. Thankfully, with our 5 day outpatient parvo treatment, this sweet boy is starting to feel much better. ❤️ His family was diligent about sticking to his treatment protocols, and we are so happy Blu is on the road to recovery. #helpishere
