Community CT

Angels of Assisi’s Community CT provides advanced diagnostic imaging for dogs and cats right here in the Roanoke Valley, giving local veterinary teams access to detailed imaging that can help provide answers when traditional X-rays may not tell the whole story.

CT, or computed tomography, creates high-resolution, cross-sectional images of a patient’s anatomy, allowing veterinarians to see areas of the body in much greater detail. CT can be especially valuable when evaluating the nasal cavity, chest, abdomen, bones and joints, as well as complex conditions that may require surgical planning or further investigation.

Advanced CT Technology at Angels of Assisi

Angels of Assisi is equipped with the NEWTOM 7G VET, an advanced CBCT system designed specifically for veterinary imaging and equipped with 2D radiology and serial radiography capabilities.

During a CT scan, a sedated or anesthetized patient lies comfortably on the CT table as it passes through the scanner’s circular opening. An X-ray tube rotates around the patient while detectors capture detailed information from multiple angles, which is then used to create high-resolution images of the area being examined.

When Can CT Imaging Help?

CT can provide valuable diagnostic information across many areas of veterinary medicine, including:

    Seizures, spinal disease, intervertebral disc disease, and skull or brain abnormalities

  • Thorax
    Pulmonary masses, airway disease, chronic respiratory disease, and complex chest cases

  • Nasal, Head & Dental
    Nasal disease, chronic sinus disease, and dental or maxillofacial abnormalities

  • Orthopedics
    Complex fractures, joint abnormalities, musculoskeletal conditions, and surgical planning

  • Oncology
    Mass and tumor evaluation, staging, and surgical planning

    Complex injuries, internal trauma, and surgical planning

  • Abdominal Disease
    Complex abdominal conditions requiring more detailed imaging for diagnosis or treatment planning
