Veterinarian

Angels of Assisi is seeking a caring veterinarian with a shared mission of keeping pets happy and healthy in their homes. A day in the life of our valued veterinarians include alternating between surgery and wellness clinics (or exclusively one or the other if desired), and care which includes routine wellness visits, sick animal exams, work-ins as time allows, spay/neuter, and soft tissue surgery. Our clinic and staff are open to new programs to develop your interests— acupuncture, physical therapy, skin care, exotics, or further training in diagnostics. 


Our current staff includes 4 veterinarians, 12 amazing veterinary assistants, and 3 knowledgeable LVT’s, along with experienced CSRs, additional dedicated phone staff, practice manager, client liaison, and cleaning staff. Full time hours include 4, ten hour shifts (no Sundays) and part time can be flexible. 


For the past 22 years, Angels of Assisi has worked out of an old building in downtown Roanoke, which helped us build a lot of character, and we are currently moving into a large, brand new facility a few blocks away. Amenities include ezyVet software, IDEXX lab station, digital radiographs, ultrasound, c-arm, dental station with x-ray, and a brand new CT machine. A doctor lounge and free cafeteria is also included. 


Roanoke, Virginia is a beautiful city in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest Virginia. It's located in the middle of the Roanoke Valley, between the Allegheny and Blue Ridge Mountains, and at the southern end of the Shenandoah Valley. Roanoke is 148 miles southwest of Richmond and 234 miles south of Washington, DC. Relocation allowance included.  


Full time salary will be dependent on experience but no less than $125,000 per year, with a review in 3 months. Requirements

  • Experience in general veterinary medicine and surgery

  • Ability to perform soft tissue and spay/neuter surgeries

  • Experience in community outreach is a plus

  • Ability to maintain medical records

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree and licensure in Virginia

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)

Four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts LVT positions available- competitive salary! Angels of Assisi in Roanoke, VA is seeking a full time Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our surgical team. This position focuses on patient care and assistance during surgeries and providing exceptional medical care and communication with our clients.

Responsibilities and Duties

Join our growing team! Angels of Assisi is seeking a motivated Licensed Veterinary Technician to help maintain the daily flow of our surgical area from check-in to patient discharge. The LVT is responsible for assisting the veterinarian with surgeries, pre-op meds, monitoring anesthesia, prepping animals for surgery, and post-surgical monitoring. Under the direction of the Veterinarian, administers medical treatment and runs diagnostic tests including digital x-ray. Candidates should have the ability to perform dental cleanings and extractions under the direction of the Veterinarian.

Veterinary Assistant

10-hour shifts, 4 work days per week. Health insurance, paid holidays, vacation time offered. Our growing Community Pet Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our animal-loving staff. Our ideal candidate will be experienced and comfortable working with all animals and with communicating with owners.

Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities include collecting patient information, communicating with the owner and relaying information to the veterinarian. The assistant is expected to give license appropriate vaccines, collect blood and urine samples, and provide the veterinarian with the supplies needed for each appointment. Veterinary assistants rotate in each position- clinic, surgery, and mobile clinics.

Pet Adoption Specialist

The Pet Adoption Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for potential adopters. You'll help guide individuals and families through the adoption process, ensure pets are matched with appropriate homes, and provide excellent customer service throughout the journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with overall cleanliness and organization of the adoption center

  • Help with daily care and medications

  • Greet and assist potential adopters in person, via phone, and through email

  • Conduct adoption counseling and interviews to ensure responsible, compatible placements

  • Match animals with adopters based on lifestyle, experience, and pet needs

  • Process applications, contracts, and fees in a timely and accurate manner

  • Educate adopters on pet care, health, behavior, and transition tips

  • Maintain detailed records of all adoption activity and outcomes

  • Assist with updating adoption listings and organizing meet-and-greets

  • Collaborate with foster coordinators, vet staff, and volunteers to ensure a smooth adoption process

Qualifications:

  • Passion for animal welfare and commitment to responsible pet ownership

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Experience in customer service, counseling, or animal care (preferred)

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a variety of people and animals

  • Ability to work weekends and attend events as needed

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English or other languages)

  • Knowledge of animal behavior or previous shelter/rescue experience

  • Ability to drive transport truck to events
